Concept
The concept was created by the artist LoneGaze (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/QrxJAr)
Modeling
For this weapon project I decided to start differently and focus on getting the silhouette of the axehead down properly. I kept my reference in the background so I could easily compare my silhouette to the concept.
I then moved on to refining details about the blade edge and start building out the topology.
I then moved to the back half of the axe and slowly built the details, vertex by vertex. I did my best with the overall topology but I feel I could of done much better with more knowledge. It was a struggle.
I then moved on to creating the pole of the halberd. It was created with a cylinder, some extrusions and scaling.
I then modeled the smaller details like the gold trim pieces across the axe and the bolts holding the axe-head to the staff head.
Shading
I used blenders node system to add basic shading to add some sparkle. Lastly, I lit the scene using several lights.
